The decisions keeping you up at night are not business problems.

They are brand problems you have never been able to name.

This is a full-day to name them. And to leave with a working document that tells you what to do first.

The problem? There is a particular kind of stuck that serious people know.

Not being new or underskilled. The feeling that the world is moving too fast and you are spending all your energy keeping up. Being genuinely busy… and suspecting most of it is not taking you anywhere.

It’s the decision that should be straightforward but keeps coming back. You get good advice. You still can’t make the call.

That stuck feeling is almost never the decision itself.

It is a foundation problem… not a decision problem.

The ground has shifted underneath everyone. Not just markets. People. The pandemic rewired trust. Technology changed how identity is built. Geopolitics and social narratives shifted what people value, what they’ll tolerate, who they’ll pay.

The person your brand was built for isn’t the same person making decisions today.

And you’ve changed too.

Most people are just reacting… creating content on top of a foundation built for a world that no longer exists. Which is why nothing sticks. Why the right people are not arriving. Why it all feels harder than it should.

Most people are just reacting.

They’re creating content on top of a foundation that was built for a world that no longer exists. Which is why nothing sticks. Why the right people are not arriving. Why it feels like more effort than it should be.

Which ones relate?

“An opportunity came up that looks good on paper. But something keeps making me hesitate and I can’t name why.”

“I’ve outgrown my current setup. But I don’t know if the next version is the right move… or just a bigger version of the wrong one.”

“I know the direction I want. I just can’t make the outside of the business match what I know it is on the inside.”

“I want a different calibre of client. But I don’t know what needs to change first.”

“I keep saying yes to things I don’t want because I don’t have a clear enough reason to say no.”

“I’ve been doing this long enough that I should feel more settled. Instead I feel like I’m constantly starting over.”

“Something shifted (in the market, or in me) and the business that made sense two years ago doesn’t feel completely right anymore.”

“I know what I’m worth. The market just doesn’t see it yet.”

None of those feel like brand problems.

But that’s exactly what they are. And you can’t make those decisions clearly without a clear brand foundation… because your brand is the filter through which every significant decision gets made.

When that filter is unbuilt, every decision starts from scratch. That’s why they’re exhausting.

Tara took our messy thoughts, wild ideas, and blurry vision and turned them into something sharp, bold, and uniquely us

“We didn’t want just a logo, we wanted a brand that felt alive. And that’s exactly what she gave us.”

Most brands are talking to a consumer who left years ago

The knowledge gap

Brand has been sold as a visual identity project for two decades. Logo, colours, website, done. So when the real problems show up (positioning collapse, misaligned audience, decisions that won’t resolve) most people don’t recognise them as brand problems.

The Underground closes that gap. In a working session. Applied directly to your business.

Your consumer has changed

The consumer your brand was built for no longer exists in the same form. And it’s got to do with behaviour. People are not buying the way they were five years ago. They are buying alignment. Identity. Consciously or not they are asking: does this brand reflect something I believe? Can I trust this person?

Psychographics now drive decisions in a way demographics never could. Most brand strategy is still built on assumptions

Identity – yours and theirs

You have changed. So has your market. The past five years shifted what people value and what kind of work and life they are actually trying to build. That shift is not separate from your brand. It is inside it.

Most brand work skips the distinction between your identity as a person and the identity of your business. Most people blur them… and pay for it. The Underground is where you separate them.

The world is writing your story.

Economic pressure. Cultural shifts. Geopolitical instability. Everyone saying the same thing slightly differently. These are shaping what your market hears, whether you have built a narrative intentionally or not.

The brands not reacting have not found a way to ignore it. They have built something clear enough that the noise does not stick.

Here’s where it changes

We’re cracking open the surface and getting to the layers most skate over.

The Underground is a full-day workshop.

A working session with max 20 people, on Tuesday June 9, at Oran Park Hotel, in Sydney’s South West.

It’s a room designed for real conversation… the kind most people avoid because it requires honesty about where things actually are.

We move through three blocks: Dissect, DNA, Direction. Each one builds on the last, and by the end you will know what the real problem is, what needs to change first, and what you can’t finish alone.

You arrive with the decisions that have been sitting with you.
You leave with a working document you built yourself, in the room, on the day.

Something real.

A 3-part working plan. Built by you, on the day.

Something you build in your own words, for your specific business.

PART 1.

Brand Reality Snapshot

The honest gap between what your business intends to communicate and what people are actually receiving. Named specifically. What’s misaligned, and why. The starting point for every decision you have been sitting with.

PART 2.

Brand DNA Snapshot

Who you’re here for (a real person, not a demographic). What you stand for. What you’re willing to not be. nd the question that lands hardest: why has this decision been so hard?

PART 3.

Direction & Action Map

The one thing that needs to change first. What that looks like executed. Your action in the next 7 days. And what you can’t finish alone. That last part is not a gap in the workshop, in fact it’s the most useful thing to know.

Most people are building on sand and calling it strategy.

Posting more won’t fix a positioning problem.
A better content strategy won’t fix a foundation that was never built.
A rebrand won’t fix a values system that was never defined.

Most people are creating content before they have built the thing the content is supposed to communicate. So it lands flat, attracts the wrong people. It may perform fine but still doesn’t convert.

The Underground is what happens before the content. Before the campaigns.
Before you hand anything to a designer or copywriter.

When the foundation is clear (who you are, who you are for, what you stand for) the content almost writes itself. The decisions get easier, and the right people start arriving without you chasing them.

That isn’t a promise, it’s what happens when the filter is built.

Meet the Presenter

19+ years building brands. Currently studying psychological science at Deakin University (because understanding the mechanism underneath human behaviour is what makes the strategy work).

Tara works in the room – diagnosing the real problem, not the presenting one. The thinking that underpins The Underground is the same thinking that drives YO&O’s full brand systems work. Condensed into a full-day, and applied to your specific business.

This is the first intake of The Underground. 20 seats. If you have been in the room with YO&O’s thinking (through the content, through The Market Shift, through client work) you already know whether this is for you.

This room is intentionally built for the way real humans think.

Not the idealised, linear, always-on version of a founder.

If you have ever felt like the standard business advice was written for someone else, or that you process and decide differently to the people in the rooms you have been in… this was designed with you in mind. YO&O’s work is psychology-first because strategy that does not account for how people actually think is just theory.

Tara just has this energy that not a lot of people have.

It is the energy that sparks your mind and creativity and you end up bouncing back and forth. It was just so refreshing after so many poor experiences.

– Ayla Parker, Founder, Daear

The only prerequisite is honesty.

This is for you if:

  • You’re already operating. Something still feels off and you can’t name it.
  • You have one of those decisions that keeps coming back.
  • You’re growing but not sure it’s in the right direction.
  • You know your worth. The market just doesn’t see it yet.
  • You’re willing to be honest for a full day in a room of people doing the same.

This isn’t for you if:

  • You think brand is a design project and you want to keep thinking that.
  • You’re not ready to hear that the decision you’re stuck on has something underneath it.
  • You want a room full of networking and polished presentations. This is a working session.
  • You’re not comfortable with honest self-reflection… or hearing that something needs to change.

The details.

FAQs

Three working blocks – Dissect, DNA, Direction. Each one builds on the last. You are not sitting and listening. You are working through your own business the entire time. There are two breaks, structured 1:1 time built into the session, and a room share close where everyone leaves knowing what they are doing first.

A three-part working document you built yourself, in the room, on the day. A Brand Reality Snapshot, a Brand DNA Snapshot, and a Direction and Action Map. Not notes or a summary (though you’ll have that too). Something you made… in your own words, for your specific business.

Oran Park Hotel, Olive Room, South-West Sydney. Tuesday June 9, 10am — 4pm. Lunch, afternoon tea and light refreshments are included. Address and parking details confirmed on booking.

No prep required. Just bring the decisions that have been sitting with you… the ones that keep coming back, the ones that should be straightforward but aren’t. That is enough to start.

No recording or slide deck. The document you build is the deliverable, and that is intentional. The thinking that happens in the room does not translate to a recording. You need to be there.

In person only. Oran Park in Sydney’s South-West. The work that happens in this room requires real conversation. That can’t be replicated on a screen.

Yep! The whole day we’ll be working with no more than 20 people. So you will have plenty of time to nab me for questions.

Yep. Your seat can be transferred to someone else… just let us know before the day. No refunds once booked, but we will not leave a seat sitting empty if life gets in the way.

Others give you tactics. The Underground changes how you think about branding. Most brand work produces a document someone else built about your business. This produces something you built yourself, which means you actually understand it, believe it, and know how to use it. The other difference is the lens. The Underground is built on behavioural science, and that changes what gets diagnosed and what gets fixed.

If you are operating, making decisions, and something still feels off… you’re at the right stage. This is not for people just starting out. It is for people who have been doing the work and suspect the foundation underneath it needs looking at.

Possibly. But in 19+ years of this work, the presenting problem is almost never the actual problem. If you already knew what it was and how to fix it, it would not still be there. The Underground is where you find out what layer it actually lives at.

Brand psychology applies regardless of industry. The mechanisms underneath why people trust, choose, and stay loyal are the same whether you are in services, products, creative industries, or anything else. What changes is how those mechanisms show up in your specific business… and that is what the working session is designed to surface.

Yes, absolutely. Most of the people in this room will be solo operators or small teams. The work is individual – you’re building your own document, not a group project. The room gives you thinking partners, not group work.

Busy is usually a symptom of the problem this day is designed to fix. The founders who feel like they cannot afford to slow down are almost always the ones who need to most. One day to build the foundation that makes every other day clearer is not a cost – it’s the point.
